Existing, conforming, commercial and mixed-use properties located in the DIG Target Area in the Redevelopment District are eligible for the DIG Facade improvement program.  Properties in the DIG Target area, but also outside the Downtown Historic District of the DIG Target Area of the Redevelopment District are eligible for funding if the property owner also is willing to follow the Downtown Design Guidelines and process. 

DIG Grant

The JCDA Downtown Improvement Grant (DIG) Façade program incentivizes building façade improvements within a highly targeted impact area, prioritizing the Historic Overlay District, within the adopted boundary area of the Redevelopment And Urban Renewal Plan For The Downtown And Other Identified Redevelopment Districts. Improved building façade appearance increases the economic viability of this target area, improves aesthetics, increases property values, enhances the marketability of space within the buildings, eliminates blight, and attracts business enterprises and residents to the area. 

 

The DIG Façade Grant Program is a reimbursable grant, administered by the Johnson City Development Authority (with additional coordination through the First Tennessee Development District (FTDD)).
